The pecking order for the apartment depends on how long a missionary couple has lived here. There are currently five couples living in our building. The two apartments on the top floor are the most coveted since they are large (2500+) square feet, have balconies and full sized washers and dryers. Our apartment opened up when President and Sister Poncio, Nicaragua Mission president, were able to return to Managua, hoping to reopen the mission to missionaries in early 2019.

This hand crafted table seats eight easily. The novelty of course is the lazy Susan in the middle. We will be hosting the New Year's Eve party so the table should get lots of use.
This laundry room has a sink and faucet. Our weekly water bottles are below. We use one and one half for drinking and cooking. We wash our dishes in regular tap water.
These are the washer and dryer. They are well used but three times the size of our previous appliances in Apartment 303. I've been churning out wash like crazy!
This is the family room adjacent to the living room. Everything has been rearranged since I took photos and we replaced the lights with more efficient brighter lights. Through the open doorway is a bedroom with two twin beds.
It's been almost five months since we arrived here in Guatemala. It's been fun playing house, but now we can enjoy living in a great apartment.
Specs: Three bedrooms, two baths, family room, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, AND small quarters for live in help with a twin bed and bathroom.

ReplyDeleteReminds me of my first missionary apartment in Sonsonate, El Salvador back in the day ... except we had one shower with cold water and the attendant was a cucharacha. We also had one room with two army cots to sleep in, and I can't remember where we ate our meals. And I never stopped sweating the whole time I was there. But I have such great memories of the people. That's what matters.
