Front Door of the Week

Here's an image from my growing collection of photos of front doors here in Guatemala.  In other parts of the world people make statements with the size, design, and location of their houses.  Here they do it with the main entrance alone -- that economy of expression appeals to me.  Some of these entrances approach works of art and are so interesting to look at.  I also enjoy the enigmatic character of these structures -- you never know what is behind the big doors and high walls.  More to come.

  1. What an interesting idea! Reminds me of the doors in Greece, each one painted to match the owner's personality and to stick out in a sea of white walls.

  2. It's a beautiful entry. I remember in Lima going to a famous restaurant, just a plain large door in a wall. Inside, magic!
