Emily and her long time friend Scott came to spend a week with us touring Guatemala for one last time. With Manuel as our guide we took the back road to Lake Atitlan.

Rounding a curve in the road near Patzun we saw this bride and her parents ready to ascend steps to their church. Her handmade veil stretched out behind her.
Their friends and family were so warm and invited us to see the church above and then stay for the wedding and lunch afterwards.
The man and woman at the front were singing soft love melodies and the groom and his party were standing stiffly outside waiting for the bride. Young men and women dressed in brightly colored huipiles and skirts and white shirts, black pants and bow ties were lining the doorway into the church.
When we crested the mountain and stopped to view Lake Attilan, Marta was anxious to sell us some handicrafts. I loved her colorful headband and purchased several.

How beautiful is that lake. The colors for the wedding! A visit from your daughter, how awesome!!! Glad you got to spend some time seeing the land together! Thanks for sharing!
